Murty is a broken man

Graeme Murty was a broken man after watching his side lose 3-2 at Ibrox to Celtic.

Twice Sevco took the lead only to be pegged back before being given half an hour against ten men to find a winner. During that time Celtic substitute Odsonne Edouard scored the winner.

Murty has dined out on two draws away at Celtic Park which has covered up a shocking run of results that has included two defeats from Dundee, two from Hibs as well as watching St Johnstone and Hamilton win at Ibrox.

A six match winning run had sent delusions sky high but by 2pm this afternoon Murty had to deal again with reality.

I’m immensely frustrated because I don’t think that we’ll ever give ourselves a better opportunity to win the game.”

We lost composure in possession, we started lumping in crosses from deep.”

Once again we gave away a really, really, really, really poor goal away, basics really cost us today.”

We got a chance to score from four yards out and we don’t take it, those are the margins.”

I thought it had hit the back stanchion, I couldn’t believe it, I was incredulous, those are the margins in this game.”

What we have done so far this season can’t be undone by one negative result.”

Unless he can pull of a win over Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup next month Murty looks like joining Ally McCoist, Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha in the Sevco scrapheap.

Holding off Aberdeen and Hibs for second place will provide little consolation with the off field chaos that is about to engulf the club.

Waving good bye to four loan signings and sending £4m of season ticket money to Close Brothers will test the PR skills of the Ibrox machine after Murty admitted that they’ll never get a better chance to beat Celtic.
