Neil McCann was the unlikely architect of Celtic’s 3-2 win over Sevco at Ibrox.

A 3-1 defeat for Dundee away to Hamilton Accies saw the Dens Park boss turn into an angry wee man with his goalkeeper in the line of fire.

Until today Bain hadn’t played a single minute of first team football.

After being on the end of his manager’s anger Bain was fined two weeks wages, a decision that he took to the PFA Scotland.

The Sun reported: “Bain’s shock axing follows an angry exchange with McCann after last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to ten-man Hamilton Accies.

It’s understood the 25- year-old refused to accept a subsequent fine of two weeks’ wages and immediately turned to the players’ union for support.

The highly-rated Bain — 124 appearances since joining from Alloa in 2014 — was ordered to travel with the under-20 squad for the midweek SPFL development game against Partick Thistle in Airdrie, and was left on the BENCH in a 3-1 loss.

His fall-out with under-pressure McCann — whose side are bottom of the table after four straight defeats — has stunned the rest of the squad.”

At the end of December Hibs offered Bain an escape to Easter Road rather than suffer under McCann as Dundee plunged down the Premiership table.

When Craig Gordon suffered ligament damage towards the end of January Bain’s career was sent in another spin.

On transfer deadline day the keeper, Scott Allan and Simon Murray were involved in a three way deal that saw Bain arrive at Celtic Park still wearing his Hibs training kit.

When Dorus de Vries turned his ankle in training Bain was in line for a high tension debut at Ibrox.

It was a debut that Alfredo Morelos and McCann will never forget.
