Willie Collum goes into Sunday’s Glasgow derby at the centre of controversy.

On Wednesday night the Lanarkshire based referee was in charge of Kilmarnock’s 2-0 home win over St Johnstone that saw Jason Kerr sent off in the 42nd minute.

Collum judged the defender to have denied Jordan Jones a goalscoring opportunity but St Johnstone disagreed with that decision.

Yesterday their website stated: “Saints have lodged an appeal for wrongful dismissal with the Scottish FA in relation to the sending off of defender Jason Kerr in last night’s match at Rugby Park.”

In 35 matches this season Collum has handed out ten red cards with Ross County’s Craig Curran sent off in Collum’s previous SPFL appointment.

Collum seems to have been used sparingly in big matches with Bobby Madden in charge of three Celtic matches since Collum refereed Celtic’s 4-0 defeat at Tynecastle.

Madden will be in charge of the Hibs v Hearts match tonight at Tynecastle.
