Mark Warburton believes that Kenny Miller is Sevco’s secret weapon for Sunday’s derby with Celtic.

The 38-year-old has barely had a look in this year with Alfredo Morelos and Jason Cummings the first choice strikers leaving Miller and Eduardo Herrera on the margins.

Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, snapped up Joey Garner, Martyn Waghorn and Joe Dodoo during his stint at Ibrox but returned to Miller when his signings flopped in front of goal.

Looking at the visit of Celtic Warbo told The Sun: “I’m delighted to see him (Miller) coming back from injury. He probably won’t start on Sunday, but I still see him being a hugely important figure for Rangers.

I actually think Kenny could be the most powerful weapon for Graeme Murty; in terms of someone who is Rangers through and through, he cares passionately about the club, he’s influential in the changing room in the right way.

When I first came to the club I was told Kenny Miller was quite vocal, forceful and opinionated. And, yes, he was indeed ALL of those — but in a good way.

I’d take Kenny Miller in a heartbeat. David Weir and I had plans for him to eventually become player-coach.

He’s got so much to offer. He’s been a magnificent player for Rangers while he was a top performer for Scotland over nearly 70 caps.

Kenny’s also played in different divisions, including Turkey and North America, and done it everywhere he’s been. He’s a role model, he’s a mentor.

Kenny can play a vital role for Sunday’s game, the rest of the campaign and the seasons ahead. He knows where Rangers need to be.

People talk about Rangers closing the gap with Celtic but Kenny will know Rangers have to be ahead of Celtic. That’s it. No one should underestimate the role Kenny can play.

He was one of the players who contacted me when I left – they all did, apart from one or two who weren’t playing – and that meant a great deal.”

A few weeks after being resigned from Sevco Warbo took over as manager of Nottingham Forest but found himself sacked in December after none months at the City Ground.

Despite his glowing reputation there has been little interest in the former city trader from Championship clubs with Birmingham quickly appointing Garry Monk after sacking Steve Cotterill.

In 37 matches in charge of Forest Warbo won 15, drew 3 and lost 19 times.
