BBC Scotland setting their agenda

On Sunday there will be a football match played between two Glasgow teams that will provide a winner and a loser.

The city and the police force will deal with it.

For reasons best known to themselves another football story is far far more important to BBC Scotland.

Rather than warn licence payers about the dangers lurking on Sunday they have something else that seems to be causing them great concern.

So much fear in fact that within a day they were promoting the story from two different sources within a 24 hour time span.

‘Old Firm title decider should be avoided’ we are told by a retired former police officer. The good news for Les Gray is that there won’t be an ‘Old Firm’ decider to get upset about.

In their six year history the Sevco club from Ibrox haven’t had a sniff of a title decider, this season, like last, they look like finishing in third place with the delusions of their fans ending back in September when Celtic won 2-0 at Ibrox.

At lunchtime today we had a very similar opinion from Gordon Strachan. His warning was ‘Old Firm: Heed police warnings over fixture’.

Whether they like it or not Celtic are going to win a seventh successive title, the fans will celebrate.

At some stage the SPFL will have to release fixtures, one of them will send Sevco to Celtic Park where their fans will be ridiculed and laughed at.

The state broadcaster won’t enjoy it. Their licence fee is almost as out of date as their beloved Old Firm and title deciders.

Tomorrow BBC Scotland will have someone else warning of the dangers of a football fixture- perhaps they should just send the remainder of their staff off on a round the world jolly to report on The Empire Games which has much more good news stories.
