Dion Dublin will go down as one of those strange Celtic signings more likely to feature in quiz questions than starting Xis under Gordon Strachan.

In January 2006 Strachan dug out his old Coventry contact book to compliment the marquee signing of Roy Keane.

Dublin’s best days were well behind him but he could play in defence in an emergency but was mainly used as an impact sub in his 12 Celtic appearances.

Without doubt the highlight of his Celtic career came at Hampden in the 2006 League Cup Final win over Dunfermline.

It was an emotional day falling in the week after Jimmy Johnstone’s death with the entire match a tribute to the man voted as the Greatest Ever Celtic player.

Dublin replaced Keane just past the hour mark and waited until the final minute of the match to add his name to the list of Celtic’s Hampden goal scorers. A year later he was joined by Jean Joel Perrier Doumbe who also scored against Dunfermline.
