There has been plenty of recent speculation about players leaving Celtic in the summer but for some of Brendan Rodgers’ recent signings it is all about getting a chance to impress.

Celtic can still field two very competitive XI’s with options on the bench without even considering the younger players waiting to follow Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor into the first team.

In attack Rodgers currently has three fit strikers to choose fromwith just one first team place available.

Moussa Dembele is again the subject of transfer speculation but it is in midfield and now central defence that the Celtic boss is swamped with options.

Olivier Ntcham has did little wrong recently, he was Man of the Match for many fans at Ibrox, but has made way for Stuart Armstrong over the last two matches. With Ntcham struggling for a game the future doesn’t look very bright for Ryan Christie or Kundai Benyu who are both out on loan at the moment.

Over the remainder of the season Rodgers main concern will be retaining the trophies won last season, when the dust settles three recent signings may be on the move as they search for first team football elsewhere.

CHARLY MUSONDA

The marquee signing that made the January transfer window worthwhile, after 18 months Brendan Rodgers had his man.

Unfortunately as Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong have returned to fitness and form match time has fallen sharply for the kid on loan from Chelsea.

His two starting appearances have been among the worst team performances of the season with no one doing themselves justice in the 1-0 defeat at Kilmarnock or 0-0 draw at home to St Johnstone.

As a substitute against Zenit St Petersburg Musonda showed what he brings to the club but it looks unlikely that he’ll be getting much more opportunities this season.

EBOUE KOUSASSI

Was expected to go out on loan in January until a run of injuries opened the door for the £2.5m signing from Krasnodar.

It seemed that he had arrived after a commanding performance at home to Zenit St Petersburg but after a poor display in the return leg he hasn’t featured since.

With Tom Rogic and Stuart Armstrong offering experienced options in midfield it looks like Kouassi will have his work cut out to get any game time in the remaining matches.

MARVIN COMPPER

This transfer is quickly becoming a mystery. In December he was the cure to all of Celtic;’s ills, in March he seemed to have dropped to fifth pick in central defence.

All seemed to be going gloriously when Brendan Rodgers got the experienced head that he needed to strengthen his defence with the deal sealed over breakfast at the home of the Celtic boss.

A calf injury picked up in Dubai seemed like a minor set-back but so far all that we’ve seen of Compper has been a less than convincing 83 minutes in the Scottish Cup against Morton.

Jack Hendry is taking his chance similar to Kris Ajer with Compper struggling to win a place on the bench.
