Neil Lennon has trolled Sevco over their ‘beggars belief’ statement after Hibs cut their ticket allocation for Easter Road on their official last game of the season.

At 10pm on Tuesday night the usual self important statement emerged from a powerful yet nameless Ibrox wordsmith promising fire and brimstone but typically producing nothing after Hibs decided to sell tickets in their stadium to their supporters.

Sevco will be backed by only 2,000 fans singing of their hatred for Catholics and Ireland on May 13 rather than the usual 4,000 that pollute the South Stand at Easter Road.

The mystical powers of the blue pound, that failed to save Rangers in 2012, was running through the statement but having heard it all before Lennon dismissed the bluster as he looked at today’s match against Kilmarnock and the chance to go level on points with Graeme Murty’s side.

It was a bit crass really,” the Hibs boss told the Edinburgh News. “They didn’t even get the day right, for a start but they do like a statement!

We will do what we have to do and what’s best for our club. And our allocation at Ibrox isn’t exactly chock full either. We could do with more Hibs fans there but we only get 800-1000 in a stadium of 48,000. We get one or two per cent of the stadium.”

Aberdeen’s 2-0 win over Hearts last night saw Sevco slip down to third place with Hibs looking to exert more pressure today.

Murty’s side have still to travel to Aberdeen and Hibs with supporters of both of those clubs looking for their side’s to send the tribute act into fourth spot requiring Motherwell to lose the Scottish Cup Final to present the SFA with a dilemma over whether to give Sevco a UEFA licence.
