Neil Lennon has criticised the Sevco players that have hung Graeme Murty out to dry.

Sunday’s Hampden humiliation from Celtic seems to have been one defeat too many with everything at Ibrox under criticism.

Former players that could be relied upon to toe the party line have gone into hiding while three fan groups have came out to question what direction the tribute act is going in.

As well as dealing with losing a semi-final Murty has a multitude of issues to deal with involving Kenny Miller, Lee Wallace, Danny Candeias, Greg Docherty, Andy Halliday and Alfredo Morelos.

For good measure Young McCrorie is suspended with Bruno Alves a major injury doubt.

Six weeks ago Murts was on the cusp of winning the double but with Sevco’s season now in tatters Lennon believes that it is the players and not the manager who should be under pressure.

Speaking to Sky Sports the Hibs boss said: “I think Graeme is in a really difficult position because he’s been interim manager for what, five or six months now?

“What does that say to the players? ‘Oh things are going well, so great’. But if things don’t go so well? ‘Oh well, he’s not the manager’.

“Ultimately the buck stops with the manager but it’s the same players that were under (Pedro) Caixinha and it wasn’t Graeme’s fault at the start of the season.

“So maybe those players need to look at themselves and say, ‘I’ve not done enough this season’.”

Although Russell Martin and Jamie Murphy will return to Norwich and Brighton at the end of this season all of the other players used at Hampden have at least another year remaining on their contracts.
