Lee McCulloch has joined the campaign to undermine Graeme Murty.
Since losing 3-2 to Celtic at Ibrox there has barely been a voice heard in the media backing the caretaker boss.
‘Real Rangers men’ like Ally McCoist, Walter Smith and Barry Ferguson have questioned whether Murty deserves the job on a permanent basis with the campaign now switching to focus on Kenny Miller.
The veteran striker has many close friends in the media, as Pedro Caixinha discovered to his cost, with Lee McCulloch launching his career at the Evening Times with a ringing endorsement of his former team-mate.
“I think there is a case for going with Miller and Morelos this weekend,” the failed Kilmarnock boss stated.
“When you have got Kenny, on a goal and a good performance, it is so hard to look past him
“He has got huge experience, he knows what it takes in Old Firm games and I would have him in the team.
“If you have the two of them, that gives you plenty of threat to go and win the game.
“On an occasion like this, you need to use your experience and there is nobody more experienced than Kenny Miller. I know it is only one game and one goal, but he came in and his confidence will be high. He would be in my side.
“The way Celtic play, you are all but guaranteed that they will score. So Rangers need to score at least twice if they are going to win.
“Having Miller and Morelos in there gives you a real threat. You need to turn up with a belief that you are going to win the game and you need to set out to win it.”
With Josh Windass likely to be missing through injury there is a place opening up for Miller with Jason Cummings the main competition for that role.
Murty faces a difficult week in the build up to Hampden after Dave King ruled him out of getting the job on a permanent basis.
