Graeme Murty has finally admitted that losing 3-2 to Celtic has left him with a broken dressing room.

Seven days before the defeat Murty had revealed that his players were celebrating when the Scottish Cup draw paired them with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The build up to the league match was incredible with Murty trying- and failing- to keep a lid on the expectations of a first ever SPFL win over the six in a row champions.

Most Sevco fans had the match won long before kick off with three more points a week later against Kilmarnock putting Murty’s warriors joint top of the league.

Twice Sevco took the lead but despite playing against ten men for the last half hour the match ended with Celtic fans partying in the Broomloan Road stand for the fourth match running

Speaking to The Sun Murty confessed: “Given the expectancy in the air going into the game, from the players, from the fans, from Ibrox, and going up twice and coming away with a negative has possibly had more of an impact that we had foreseen.

But we have to reinforce the players’ belief in one another, in themselves and what we’re doing to continue our journey on an upward path.

There’s lots of stuff we’ve changed and done that a lot of people don’t necessarily see that’s improving and getting better, but we have to make sure we back up it up by putting in the performances and getting the points.

We haven’t managed to do that in the last few games, but I still believe this group of players are capable of beating anyone in the country on their day.”

Sevco face Dundee today hoping to avoid their eight SPFL defeat of the season and slipping into fourth place in the table.

Next Sunday the Ibrox caretaker can take the lessons from his personal development journey to Hampden and try them out on Rodgers’ side again.
