Dave King has raised the stakes between Sevco and the SFA by calling for the suspension of non-executive director Gary Hughes and for other officials to be investigated.

In a carefully arranged exercise to appeal to the vast Follow-Follow section of the Ibrox fan-base the South African based criminal is playing the victim against an organisation that has bent over backwards to appease any club operating from Ibrox.

This morning the Daily Record carried the shock horror news that Hughes had made reference to the great unwashed at Ibrox in a magazine interview 12 years ago.

Picking up on the story at lunchtime today King told the Record: “I can confirm receipt of information, that would appear to be credible, and which merits immediate and thorough independent investigation.

Mr Hughes should be suspended pending this investigation. I also believe steps must be taken to ascertain whether any other SFA individuals were aware of what Mr Hughes said about Rangers supporters before he was appointed a non-executive director of the governing body in 2015.

It is important to discover if there has been a breach of the SFA duties and responsibilities to all clubs.”

A retrospective look into SFA vested interests over the last 20 years would be welcomed by most football fans with the Ibrox clubs having most to lose.

The influence of President Ogilvie, a known Rangers (IL) supporter could be investigated, former Chief Executive Stewart Regan once described his president as heavily conflicted during the EBT cover up.

Andrew Dickson could be investigated for cheating fellow SFA members out of prizes and the opportunity to take part in UEFA competition due do ineligible players being fielded with Dickson at the centre of side contracts used to entice stars like Barry Ferguson, Alex Rae, Neil McCann, Kris Boyd and current Scotland boss Alex McLeish.

Ian Maxwell took over as chief executive of the SFA at the start of this week, he now knows just how desperate things are at Ibrox as they apply a scatter gun approach to bring down others with their own demise only a matter of time.

If Maxwell wants to have any impact he can reject Sevco’s application for a UEFA licence for next season, anything else and he is as big a part of the problem as King, Dickson and Alastair Johnston who are overseeing the demise of a second club within a decade.
