Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister are heading to Dubai at the weekend on a Liverpool jolly rather than watch their new club battle for second place in the SPFL!

The new management team at Ibrox have been keeping things very low key since Gerrard made an appearance on Friday accompanied by a splash of moonbeams.

In March 2017 Dave King claims that he paid compensation to Al Gharafa of Kuwait to bring in Pedro Caixinha early but 14 months later there seems little urgency about getting Gerrard inside Ibrox.

The new man with brogues and blazer won’t take up his new job until June 1 with a jolly in the dessert with wealthy Liverpool fans taking priority over assessing the squad that he will take over in three weeks time.

According to a report in the Daily Record: “Next stop for Gerrard and McAllister is Dubai where on Sunday they will be part of a star studded meet and greet with Liverpool fans at a live screening of the Anfield side’s last league game of the season against Brighton.

They will be joined on the tip by former team mate Steve McManaman as part of the club’s LFC World promotion – an initiative aimed at growing Liverpool’s brand throughout the globe.

The glitzy beach-front bash was one of the major long standing commitments which prevented Gerrard from taking over the reigns at Rangers until the start of the pre-season, despite officially being presented as the club’s new manager last Friday.”

The Record also reported that Gerrard made a hush hush visit to the state-of-the-art Murray Park training complex on Tuesday night DURING the first team match with Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

It’s unlikely that Gerrard will have any face to face meetings with King before starting his new job with his day to day contact being with chief executive Stewart Robertson and Director of Football Mark Allen.

Despite King’s claim to be pushing ahead with plans for a share issue to hand Gerrard a £6m transfer war-chest there has been no comment or notice posted by the Ibrox companY.

Gerrard’s wife and four kids have refused to move to Scotland.
