After one media conference, not even taking in a training session or watching a match, Steven Gerrard is already trash talking Celtic’s achievements.
Using the sort of language favoured by the hard of thinking fans that call radio phone-in’s the soon to be appointed Ibrox boss believes that Celtic have had it their own way for too long.
Some might argue that Aberdeen have had it their own way for too long with a clear run at second place.
Rather than keep a little distance and respect the achievements of the only manager to get him close to winning the EPL Gerrard has opted to appeal to the lowest common denominator at Ibrox in a bid to sell season tickets for his masters.
Charles Green perfected the trick.
“Celtic have had it their own way for far too long,” the Liverpool u-18 coach told a group of Liverpool fans at a Q and A in Dubai according to a report in The Sun.
As well as trashing Celtic he dismissed the efforts of every manager in the country, they won’t be slow to let Gerrard discover that they don’t all roll over to get tickled.
“This is a massive opportunity for myself and Gary McAllister to go to a huge football club and try to improve things in Glasgow.
“We go up and we will give it our best. Liverpool have been fantastic because they actually came to me and said that Rangers would like to speak to me.
“I asked them what they thought and they have since given me every bit of support that I needed to go and take the challenge on. I go with Liverpool’s blessings.”
Gerrard added: “Every fan I have bumped into since the news broke are now Rangers fans too so that’s been a huge boost for me.
“I have had so many good luck wishes and messages and it has been really great for me.”
Those fair weather fans will turn just as quickly as the real natives did on previous saviours Mark Warburton and Pedro Caixinha.
In less than two months time Gerrard will be involved in Europa League qualifiers hoping to avoid a repeat of the humiliation dished out to Caixinha by Progres Niederkorn.
