Steven Naismith has been offered a two match ban for his brutal attack on Scott Brown but escaped punishment for his attack on James Forrest.

Referee Bobby Madden had a clear view of both incidents but failed to even award a free kick for an offence that the SFA deemed worthy of a two match ban.

Naismith will be available to face Hibs tonight but will miss Sunday’s match against Kilmarnock unless he appeals successfully against the suspension.

With his Hearts loan deal expiring on Sunday the second match of his ban will apply at Norwich City although he is unlikely to get anywhere near their first team again.

Brendan Rodgers was highly critical of the attack on his captain who fortunately didn’t suffer any serious injury.

Speaking ahead of his side’s match against Hibs Craig Levein said that he would appeal against any action taken against the former Scotland forward.
