Carlos Pena has gone to ground after rejecting the offer of treatment in an alcohol rehabilitation centre from Cruz Azul.

The on-loan Sevco play-maker has flopped spectacularly on his return to Mexico with Pedro Caixinha running out of patience.

Sevco splashed out £3m to sign the 28-year-old last summer but tried to cut their losses by reuniting him with Caixinha during the January transfer window.

That move has proved just as disastrous as his appearances in a Sevco shirt with one disciplinary issue after another before Cruz terminated the loan deal.

According to The Sun: “Sources in Mexico have revealed that Cruz Azul were willing to let him complete his full one-year loan spell if he agreed to go to an alcohol rehabilitation centre in Mexico for treatment.

However, Pena reportedly point blank refused the offer because he doesn’t believe he has any issues with alcohol and his friends and family have now reported to the Mexican media they are worried about the 28-year-old because he hasn’t been seen for two days.”

Pena started six SPFL matches for Sevco but despite scoring four times struggled badly for fitness.

Despite various reports on social media of him enjoying the high life in Glasgow no firm evidence ever appeared.

Sevco fans were outraged by his move to Mexico when he was filmed blowing his nose into Sevco shorts before undergoing his medical with Cruz Azul.
