Chris Sutton is amazed that Mark Warburton gets job offers ahead of Neil Lennon.

After losing to Hearts on Wednesday night the Hibs boss sent out a very clear message to the Easter Road board that he is questioning whether the club matches his own ambitions.

Lennon can be a very volatile character as he proved following that defeat but in an era of manufactured coaches he is a winner with the drive and personality to produce results.

His nature and a poor spell at Bolton seems to have put English clubs off making an approach with Ipswich Town currently looking towards St Mirren’s Jack Ross rather than the Hibs boss.

Sutton knows how complex his old team-mate can be and is baffled by the way the former Celtic boss is overlooked.

Bolton was a disaster for Lennon but it was a no-win job,” the former Celtic striker told the Daily Record. “His hands were tied. It defies my logic he doesn’t even get an interview, a sniff, a mention, when it comes to decent jobs even at places such as Derby and Nottingham Forest.

Seriously, Forest gave Mark Warburton a job. Mark flipping Warburton, at the same time as overlooking Lennon. That’s an insult.

I know Lennon’s character puts some people off and I also find that unfair. Listen, there are times he goes over the score. For example, gesturing to and engaging with the Hearts supporters at full-time on Wednesday night wasn’t very smart behaviour.”

Lennon will be the centre of attention on Sunday when Hibs take on Sevco with Hi-bee supporters hoping that the Irishman will remain in charge for next season.
