The SPFL has dismissed Dave King’s call to suspend chairman Murdoch MacLennan.

In co-operation with the Daily Record, King issued an angry statement this afternoon in a bid to deflect attention away from his failure to sign up any of Steven Gerrard’s preferred signings.

With no sign of the £6m June share issue and the Takeover Appeal Panel in hot pursuit the South African based criminal is desperate to deflect attention away from the state of matters inside Ibrox.

Appealing to the conspiracy theorists on Follow Follow is a guaranteed winner for King who knows how to play the gullible market.

Now however he has to provide some follow up action after the SPFL rejected his call to suspend MacLennan for taking up a non-executive directorship with a firm in Ireland that Dermot Desmond holds a 15% shareholding in.

The SPFL stated:

“It’s not surprising that Murdoch, having stepped down as deputy chairman of Telegraph Media Group, should be approached by other businesses in that sector.

“The members of the SPFL board were each informed of Murdoch’s appointment on January 19th 2018, the same day it was publicly announced in a press release from Independent News & Media PLC.

“No director raised this issue subsequently and it was not the subject of any board discussions.

“To be definitive, a non-executive position on a PLC does not constitute a business relationship between that individual and a minority shareholder in the company and therefore no investigation is warranted.”

Andrew Dickson who failed to record the full payment details of players for more than a decade is on the SFA Congress.

The heavily conflicted Campbell Ogilvie remained as president of the SFA as the fielding of ineligible players was investigated.

While chairman of Hearts Ogilvie’s wife was a significant shareholder in Rangers (IL), a clear breach of rules by the most able administrator in football.
