Chris Sutton didn’t mess about when asked his opinion on Steven Naismith’s two assaults on Celtic players during the a 3-1 defeat for Hearts from the hoops.

The on loan Norwich striker amazingly avoided any action from Bobby Madden with ‘challenges’ that left BT Sport viewers shocked.

Early on in the match as Scott Brown chased a ball going towards the touchline Naismith arrived late then pushed his foot into the Celtic skipper’s groin.

Referee Madden and assistant Willie Conquer both had clear views of the incident with no foul, yellow or red card issued.

Later in the first half wee Naisy went straight over the ball to stamp on James Forrest’s ankle. Again no foul was given with the referee and his assistant both having clear views of the incident.

After Ally McCoist and Stephen Craigan had tried to avoid the issue Sutton joined the BT panel for their after match analysis.

While watching reruns of both incidents he said: “Look it should have been two red cards, they are leg breaking challenges. For an experienced player, it’s awful, I used the word cowardly and I stand by that.

They are shocking, shocking challenges. Brown and then here,”

Looking at the attack on Forrest BT Sport presenter then asked Sutton: “Is that a red as well?

Are you saying differently Daryl, that is endangering an opponent, he has gone over the ball. He knows exactly what he was doing, no doubt.”

In the second half Naismith went into hiding refusing to take more than two touches on the ball.
