Mikael Lustig has extended Celtic’s incredible success into international football.

On Saturday night the Swede’s looked a broken team as they came to terms with losing out to a last gasp goal from Toni Kroos that sent them to defeat.

Having been denied a clear first half penalty and facing ten men for the last 15 minutes the defeat from Germany was especially painful.

Going into the final group match the Swede’s were rank outsiders as they faced Mexico with two wins out of two while Germany took on South Korea who had lost both of their opening matches.

At half-time both matches were goal-less but the second 45 minutes will never be forgotten by those that played in or witnessed events unfold.

While the Swedes scored three times to secure their place in the last 16 the Germans collapsed, losing two late goals to South Korea to finish bottom of their group.

Sweden will now play Switzerland on July 3 for a place in the last eight with the confidence of having eliminated Holland, Italy and now Germany.
