Mikey Johnston scored a wonder goal as Scotland opened the scoring against England at the Toulon Tournament.

A place in the final of the u-21 competition is at stake with England winning the u-20 World Cup a year ago.

Johnston made his Celtic debut in April 2017 and has been fast tracked through the ranks by Brendan Rodgers.

Unfortunately a thigh injury brought his season to a halt in January but he fought his way back to play half a dozen matches in the Development League before impressing in Scott Brown’s Testimonial Match.

Two years ago at u-17 level Johnston was left out of the Scotland squad for the European Championships by Scot Gemmill but while many in that squad have drifted out of contention Johnston has flourished.

Celtic duo Ross Doohan and Anthony Ralston are also in the Scotland XI tonight as they attempt to reach the semi-finals of the competition held annually in the south of France.
