Steven Gerrard can’t wait to start working with a fantastic player- Lee Wallace.

The defender is currently in dispute with Sevco over a four week fine handed out in the aftermath of the 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final from Celtic at Hampden.

Wallace is alleged to have had a confrontation with Graeme Murty that led to a suspension with the fine now being appealed to the SPFL.

The full-back earned legendary status when he TUPE’d over his Rangers contract to the tribute act set up by Charles Green after Her Majesty rejected the offer of a CVA.

After leading the battle through the lower divisions Waldo has found life tough in the top flight with a sore knee picked up against Partick Thistle in September bringing his season to a halt.

Gerrard is hoping to move on at least a dozen of the players that he has inherited but is excited by the prospect of working with the longest serving player at the company.

Speaking to The Sun the former Liverpool u-18 coach said: “Lee’s got a year left on his contract and he’s a fantastic player. There’s a situation that I’ve got nothing to do with.

I’m not trying to back out of the situation, but Lee’s got an issue with the club that needs resolving. I’ll leave them to it to resolve it.

My focus is on when I can get Lee Wallace back fit and available for selection. When we do we’ve got a good player. I need a fit Lee Wallace.

At the moment he’s injured and he’s also got an off-the-field situation that needs resolving.

When those two issues are resolved and I’ve got him fit then I’m a happy man.”

Kenny Miller was given a two week fine for his part in the Hampden incident with Murty and is also appealing to the SPFL.
