Eduardo Herrara has refused to walk away from his lucrative Sevco contract.

A year ago Pedro Caixinha signed the striker in a £3m deal from Pumas UNAM despite scoring just one goal in the 2016/17 season.

With two years left on his £25,000/week Ibrox deal Herrera won’t be taking a pay cut to move elsewhere despite interest from Mexico according to a report in The Express.

Spending on the Revolution has come to a halt with Steven Gerrard forced to concentrate on loan deals after being snubbed by Jermaine Defoe, Martin Skrtel and Fernando Torres.

Herrera, Fabio Cardoso and Bruno Alves are draining £80,000/week from the club and are showing no interest in walking away.

The spotlight at Sevco is now on Director of Football Mark Allen to get players out the door with Micky O’Halloran the only departure although Joe Dodoo and Jason Holt have been sent out on loan.

With less than a fortnight until the competitive action gets underway it looks like former Shrewsbury Town starlet Connor Goldson will be this summer’s marquee signing.

Tickets are still available for Sevco’s glamour friendly on Friday June 6 which clashes with one of the World Cup quarter-finals.
