Ollie McBurnie has revealed that Sevco didn’t make any move to sign him in January.

The Swansea striker uses social media to link himself with Ibrox at every opportunity but when the transfer window last opened he looked on as Jason Cummings earned a dream move.

McBurnie has a year left on his Swansea contract but after starting just two EPL matches in three years it’s unlikely that he is about to get a chance or a new contract from the Welsh side.

During the January transfer window social media expected a move to Ibrox for the goal-less Scotland striker but speaking from Mexico McBurnie told The Sun that a deal was never on the cards.

I’ve always said all my life I would love to play for Rangers,” he admitted to The Sun. “ Whether it’s now or not I don’t know but I don’t think it was as close as everyone was saying back in January.

I had three options at the end I was definitely able to go to, and Rangers were not one of the three. I have one year left at Swansea, but there is no manager there.

It is kind of up in the air at the minute. When I get back home I will go down and speak to the relevant people, and see what happens.”

McBurnie did score nine goals in 16 appearances for Barnsley despite the Yorkshire side being relegated from the Championship.
