Steven Gerrard’s first match at Ibrox will be against English aces Bury.

Friday July 6 will see the former Liverpool youth coach take his seat in the dug out for the first time.

A week later Sevco will be in action in the first round of the Europa League qualifiers with the Bury clash being used to give the players match practice after their pre-season training camp in Spain.

Bury finished last season in bottom place in League One with 36 points collected from 46 matches.

With five weeks to go until the first competitive match of the season Gerrard has only added Ovie Ejaria to last seasons squad.

Talks are apparently on going with Connor Goldson after a fee in the region of £3m was agreed with Brighton.

Kenny Miller is the only player to leave the club although Shrewsbury are keen on third choice keeper Jak Alnwick.

League One winners Wigan Athletic will visit Ibrox for a friendly on Sunday July 29.
