Dembele blow

Moussa Dembele could miss Wednesday’s Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg.

According to a report in The Sun Celtic won’t take any risk on the striker’s tight hamstring with the prospect of five more qualifiers to come later this month.

SunSport understands Dembele is not facing a lengthy lay-off, but Wednesday’s Euro qualifier could come too soon.

Dembele, 22, was hampered by hamstring injuries last season and Brendan Rodgers won’t take any chances with his fitness.

Dembele made a brief appearance away to Linfield last season then missed the remaining qualifiers due to a pulled hamstring.

Celtic have insured themselves against that prospect by signing Odsonne Edouard but the joint French strike force has looked the strongest option in the early part of the season.

If Dembele isn’t fully fit Edouard will go solo against the Norwegians with the prospect of Tom Rogic being involved at some stage.

The Australian internationalist returned to training last week after playing in the World Cup Finals while Mikael Lustig returned to training yesterday with a view to being involved in next week’s return leg in Norway.

Brendan Rodgers will provide an update later today at his pre-match media conference.
