Brendan Rodgers has spoken with Kieran Tierney about the alleged interest in him from Everton.
It seemed like just another transfer story when the mid-tab EPL outfit were linked with a move for the Celtic defender.
Rather than pass it off as the usual speculation Rodgers appeared to give this offer credibility by discussing it as life changing for his player.
Last season Tierney signed an extended contract that keeps him with Celtic until 2022 and brings him in line with the top earners at the club.
The defender couldn’t be clearer about his happiness at playing for his bhoyhood side and the way that his game has developed under Rodgers.
In just over a week’s time Celtic start out in a campaign to reach the group phase of the Champions League with Rodgers confident that his left-back is fully focussed.
“Kieran is very committed, nothing changes,” the Celtic boss told The Sun.
“He is a good boy and I had a long chat with him just about keeping his focus really.
“You can’t control these things. You just need to stay focused on keeping yourself fit and ready for the games.
“If something comes in, fine. He just needs to go out and concentrate.”
Yesterday Celtic lost 1-0 to Bohemians Prague and complete the final match of their Austrian trip on Tuesday against Sparta Prague.
