Sevco have been linked with a cut price offer for Jake Cooper.

According to a report in The Sun a bid in the region of £1.5m is expected as Steven Gerrard attempts to bolster his defence after Martin Skrtel rejected the chance of taking an 80% pay cut.

Cooper made 38 Championship appearances for Millwall last season and could probably fetch £5m from the English market.

Gerrard admitted last week that he’d have to move players on before making any more signings with Bruno Alves reported to be in talks about a move to Parma.

With cash tight and Mark Allen an expert on the Croatian transfer market following the signing of Nikola Katic from Slaven Belupo it seems strange that Gerrard is looking at a player from the most overheated market in football.

Cooper signed for Millwall last July from Reading but no doubt dreams of working under his playing hero as part of his Ibrox Revolution.
