Sevco have apparently pulled out of a deal to sign Manchester City starlet Kean Bryan.

According to a report in The Sun the defender, whose City contract runs until June 2019 failed a medical on a three year contract worth £2.5m.

If that version is true the player, his agent and Manchester City will be less than happy at having those details splashed across Dave King’s favourite newspaper.

Last season Bryan played in 37 matches for Oldham, new Sevco defender Connor Goldston started 14 matches over two seasons for Brighton before his summer switch to Ibrox.

If the deal was too much for Steven Gerrard’s war-chest then it confirms speculation that the money is close to running out after the tales about Jermaine Defoe, Fernando Torres and Martin Skrtel that followed the appointment of the former Liverpool u-18 coach.

Despite the hype Gerrard has only spent transfer fees on three players- Connor Goldston, Nikola Katic and Jamie Murphy- as he scrapes the barrel snapping up free transfers and loan players.

Gerrard has gone on the record to state that he wants a left sided central defender, yesterday a £200,000 bid for Kyle Lafferty was leaked to Dave King’s favourite broadcaster- STV.
