Shaun Maloney has joined the coaching staff with the Belgian national side.
The 35-year-old took his first steps into coaching a year ago when he joined Celtic where he works alongside Tommy McIntyre with the Reserve squad.
Belgian boss Roberto Martinez signed Maloney for Wigan Athletic where together they won the FA Cup in 2013.
Their first task will be to prepare the World Cup semi-finalists for next Friday’s friendly against Scotland at Hampden.
Belgium are able to call on many of the biggest names in European football with half of their squad playing in the English Premier League.
During the summer they reached the semi-final where they lost out to eventual winners France before beating England for a second time in the third placed play off.
As a player Maloney picked up 20 Scotland caps during which he scored six goals.
