Marvin Compper could be on his way out of Celtic- after 82 minutes of first team football.

The defender was signed in January as a cure to Celtic’s defensive problems but has barely been able to get near a first team place.

Compper made his delayed debut against Morton in March in a Scottish Cup tie but was dropped the following week for the 3-2 win over Sevco at Ibrox.

Despite being involved in the pre-season trip to Austria and getting 45 minutes against Standard Liege in a pre-season friendly he has again dropped out of contention and currently is believed to be injured.

According to a report in The Sun:

Compper – who has also been plagued by injury – has two years left on his deal.

But it’s believed Parkhead chiefs could be ready to cut their losses with the 33-year-old.

Compper’s contract runs until June 2019 with Celtic having an option to extend that by a further 12 months.

That option clearly won’t be exercised with pay off negotiations centring around how much of his contract is paid off in order for the defender to return to Germany to find a new club.

It was reported that Celtic paid a fee of £1m to RB Leipzig for Compper.
