Sevilla are hoping to cash in on Dedryck Boyata’s ‘strike’ action at Celtic and sign the defender for less than £10m.

Last week Celtic rejected a £9m bid from Fulham for the defender but according to respected Spanish website AS, Sevilla are expecting to get Boyata for around the same price.

Brendan Rodgers had hoped to include Boyata in the Celtic squad that faced Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday but after rejecting the Fulham bid relations with the player plummeted.

On Friday morning Boyata phoned in with a bad back while his agent Jacques Liechtenstein turning up at training demanding a meeting with Brendan Rodgers.

That was followed by an interview on a Belgian website in which Liechtenstein made a number of allegations about Celtic refusing to deal with offers with the player unable to play for a month.

Boyata is highly unlikely to play again for Celtic and is dependent on his agent’s negotiating skills to earn a move rather than spend a season rotting on the sidelines despite playing three times for Belgium at the World Cup Finals.
