Dedryck Boyata’s agent has made a fresh attack on Celtic accusing the hoops of failing to make his client a dignified contract proposal.

If Jacques Lichtenstein was doing his job properly he’d have a host of ‘diginified’ offers lined up for his client rather than trying to gatecrash his way into meeting Brendan Rodgers on the eve of a match.

After that stunt back-fired the Belgian based agent made a number of accusations against Celtic in an interview with the threat that Boyata would go on strike before signing a pre-contract deal in January 2019.

Celtic have now sidelined Boyata with his agent now reduced to sniping at the club as his client frets over whether he’ll get the move anticipated after playing at the World Cup for Belgium.

The Daily Mail reports:

Previously there was interest from Fulham, Olympiakos and Fenerbahce,” claimed Lichtenstein. “Offers of £7million and £8m – but apparently Celtic is financially strong enough not to go into that. It’s strange, because on the other hand, the club apparently does not have the money to make Dedryck a dignified new contract proposal.”

Boyata was left out of the Celtic squad that flew to Athens on Sunday and must now try to find a way to regain match fitness as he deals with a mystery back injury.

Should Celtic agree a transfer with another club for the defender it’s unlikely that he will have a problem with the medical.
