Brendan Rodgers is offering Ryan Christie the chance to reignite his Celtic career.

The attacking midfielder has spent most of his time out on loan since joining the hoops in a £500,000 move from Inverness Caley Thistle in 2015.

Christie is under contract for one more season with no sign of talks about an extended deal..

Having lost Stuart Armstrong and Patrick Roberts during the close season the return of Christie and Scott Allan from loan deals keeps the numbers steady in the Celtic squad.

Celtic have had three bids rejected for John McGinn with some suggestions that a further bid involving Christie could get that deal over the line.

We have one or two players like Ryan that will be very important for our squad,” Rodgers told The Sun.

It is just really how they see themselves and whether they want to be a part of it.

We don’t have a player who will play every game, so there are going to be games for these players.

Ryan has a year left on his contract. He’s a good boy. He did exactly what we wanted in terms of going on loan and getting 18 months of really good experience.”

Christie has made two substitute appearances this season and broke into the Scotland side last season while on loan at Aberdeen.

With his deal expiring at the end of this season he is expected to leave for England.
