Burton Albion have ‘joined the race’ to sign Greg Docherty on loan from Sevco.
According to a report in The Sun the League One side will rival Shrewsbury Town to snap up the midfield enforcer.
Steven Gerrard has made it clear that Docherty won’t feature in his plans for this season with Andy Halliday getting a few cameo appearances ahead of the former Hamilton starlet.
Docherty was Graeme Murty’s only permanent signing during the January transfer window when Douglas Park arranged a deal between the two clubs that he is a shareholder in.
The arrival of the True Blue midfielder was greeted by joy from the Ibrox support but after three defeats from Celtic in seven weeks the Doc looked a broken man.
Gerrard has brought in five midfielders since replacing Murty with both Ryan Jack and Halliday ahead of Docherty for a first team place.
