Tom Rogic has been playing through the pain barrier since returning from the World Cup Finals.

The midfielder has been in and out of the Celtic side this season with only a few glimpses of his top form.

After Sunday’s derby clash against Sevco Rogic will have a 12 day break as the Celtic medics attempt to get to the bottom of the issue.

While his Socceroo team-mates gather together for a training camp the goalscoring midfielder will remain in Scotland for treatment.

Tommy has an ongoing knee issue that’s affecting his hamstring,” Australian manager Graham Arnold told the Sydney Morning Herald.

Nearly every game he’s played has only been 60 minutes and he’s coming off the bench. He’s having an injection directly after their game at the weekend that requires five to seven days rest – it’s a waste of time bringing him in, especially when our medical staff are all over what the injury is.

There’s been great communication between Celtic and our medical staff, so we know exactly what the issue is. I know Tom well after coaching him for a quite a while and it gives a great opportunity for us to look at other players.”

Rogic played for 67 minutes against Hamilton on Sunday and missed the first leg tie against Suduva.

After an indifferent couple of years at Celtic Brendan Rodgers made the midfielder a mainstay of his side and has been rewarded with a number of big match goals.

Before heading off to the World Cup Finals in Russia he signed a new five year contract with Celtic.
