Moritz Bauer is a new name in the Celtic transfer puzzle with the Stoke City full-back named as a target by the Daily Mail.
At long last the club has been linked with a right-back with the flaws of Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa obvious in recent matches while Tony Ralston seems completely out of contention.
Bauer is a 26-year-old Austrian internationalist currently playing for Stoke City whom he joined in January from Rubin Kazan in a £2.5m deal.
His pedigree seems ideal for the ‘Celtic model’ although the EPL contract that he signed last summer will clearly be a little on the rich side for the hoops to match.
Bauer was born in Switzerland and started his career with Winterthur before moving to Grasshoppers where he picked up Swiss u-19 and u-21 caps but switched to Austria, his father’s country in 2017.
After two seasons in Russia with Rubin he switched to Stoke where he made 13 appearances as they were relegated from the EPL.
This season he has made three appearances in The Championship for Stoke but with Gary Rowett now in charge a transfer or loan or permanent transfer may be on the cards.
