Vidi took a big step towards a place in the Champions League play-off round by drawing 1-1 away to Malmo tonight.

After falling behind to a goal from Anders Christiansen in the 62nd minute the Hungarians equalised nine minutes later through Loic Nego.

With the benefit of an away goal Vidi will go in to next week’s return leg as favourites to progress through to face Celtic or AEK Athens.

The Hungarian side seem to be on a good run of form at the right time after putting out Ludogorets in the second qualifying round.

Celtic will park all thoughts of the play off round as they prepare to face AEK Athens on Wednesday night.

While Brendan Rodgers’ side have the benefit of five competitive matches under their belt the Greek League doesn’t start until August 25 with the visit to Glasgow their first competitive game of the season.
