A week ago Kean Bryan was all set to join the Revolution with his signing cliches getting the finishing touches.

The Manchester City defender was to become the 11th signing made by Steven Gerrard with a three year package accounting for £2.5m widely discussed.

Bryan made it as far as negotiations went but never managed to get around to discuss the life changing phone call from his boyhood hero, the lure of exciting European nights and the thrill of playing in front of 50,000 fans every fortnight.

Initially the excuse was that he had failed a medical which is a very serious claim to make.

Gerrard quickly corrected that following the friendly win over Wigan when he admitted that they had failed to agree terms for the defender. The Ibrox boss then stated that he wanted two new players in for the opening SPFL match at Aberdeen.

Despite the medical slur Bryan has signed for Sheffield United on a three year deal with Manchester City getting a slice of any future transfer fee.

Back at Ibrox Sevco are refusing to be held to ransom for Kyle Lafferty, the ransom is believed to be a fee of £500,000.

Interest in Millwall’s Jake Cooper has gone the same way as the deal to sign Martin Skrtel and Jermain Defoe.

Unless he intends going back to Liverpool for more on loan starlets it looks like Gerrard will head to Pittodrie on Sunday with the squad that limped to a 1-1 home draw against Osijek.
