Mark Allen has opened the floodgates for Ibrox pay-off’s after the bungled way that he handled Fabio Cardosa.

The Ibrox Director of Football agreed a pay off for the two years left on the defender’s contract then watched as Cardoso picked up another signing on fee and a four year contract with Portuguese side Santa Clara.

Vitoria Setubal are still owed money on the £1.5m fee Sevco agreed to pay for the starlet last summer.

Allen has failed to raise a penny in transfer fees with Declan John and Lee Hodson both negotiating their Ibrox escape.

John has three years left to run on the contract that he signed in December and is wanted by Swansea.

Unless Sevco offer a Cardoso-style pay off he is likely to sit tight as the Ibrox wage bill mushrooms.

Hodson has just a year left on his contract with former club captain Lee Wallace in a similar situation as his dispute with the company drags on.
