Celtic’s 2007/08 title success was one of the sweetest in the club’s history- it’s not every Thursday night that you clinch the title at Tannadice.

From a November defeat at Ibrox that was refereed outrageously by the Revered Mike McCurry through to the scheduling of the final round of matches every obstacle possible was put in the way of Gordon Strachan’s side.

How many Scottish clubs have played two Champions League matches in seven days with an SPL trip to Tynecastle thrown into the same week?

In the final straight of the title race Celtic also had to deal with the tragic death of Tommy Burns.

Aiden McGeady was on the inside throughout the campaign, he knew the obstacles and trip wires, the honest mistakes that would be put in Celtic’s path, and the helping hands given to dignified Walter Smith and his bus-parkers across the city.

The attitude of the authorities was best illustrated when the post-split fixtures were altered to suit one club. A club that had been allowed to postpone a match against Gretna to prepare for a Champions League tie that they lost 3-0.

Now we also know that in every fixture that they played they used ineligible players.

No one at the SFA or SPL thought that it was strange of captain Barry Ferguson to quit Blackburn to return to Rangers for £8,000/week, or so his legit contract read anyway.

After a 10 day break from their second last fixture Celtic dusted down the cobwebs to go to Dundee United and win the title.

Against all odds McGeady certainly appreciated the success.
