Rod Stewart is to release Grace as a single.

The emotion charged ballad from the 1916 Irish Revolution was adopted by the Green Brigade two years ago bringing the stirring words to a worldwide audience.

Stewart first sang it in Vegas in June with social media spreading the word far and wide.

Despite his heavy schedule the popular entertainer is never far from events at Celtic Park and put in an appearance at the midweek match against Rosenborg.

Stewart was born in London with a Scottish father and has never hidden his football affections despite having invites to watch any club in the world.

As his career took off in the early seventies a friendship developed with Jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish and Bobby Lennox during the nine-in-a-row era.

In 1995 he was given a seat in the directors box after opening the North Stand with his support stronger than ever as anyone attending his concerts will know.
