Kris Commons has struggled to make the grade as a pundit but after Celtic’s defeat at Kilmarnock he struck the right notes- echoing the concerns of supporters.

Rugby Park wasn’t a one off and there was no knee jerk reaction to the result and performance. It wasn’t really a surprise and the same could happen at St Johnstone on Wednesday.

If truth be told it would be a bigger shock if Celtic turned on the style and put a few goals past Tommy Wright’s side.

After the final whistle at Rugby Park Commons suggested that there must be dressing room problems at Celtic.

After another abject display there out to be- who could take any enjoyment from that sort of outing?

Abject was one word that Commons didn’t use in his Daily Mail column, there were quite a few however that would hit home with supporters and his old colleagues back inside the troubled dressing room.

For three games on the bounce now – against St Mirren, Rosenborg and Kilmarnock – Celtic have been painful to watch.

The football they have played has been so dull and boring. It has been absolute dross – enough to induce a bout of narcolepsy.

They aren’t offering the fans any entertainment whatsoever. There is no flair. As a unit, the team looks so rigid and, individually, the players don’t look like they’re enjoying it.

It looks like serious questions have to be asked, and answered at Lennoxtown today, Celtic’s problems won’t be solved by working harder on the training ground and clever video analysis.

St Mirren and Kilmarnock have broadcast the template of how to hurt the hoops, even after a 5-1 defeat at Ibrox Tommy Wright will have taken note.
