Leigh Griffiths picked up three points for his driving licence on Thursday afternoon- then earned another three for Celtic with the golden goal that beat Rosenborg a few hours later.
The striker has had more than a few brushes with controversy during his career but even by his standards Thursday, September 20 was a little bit different.
In early afternoon news broke about copping a driving charge which had dragged on over a number of months.
Undeterred by that incident the striker jumped back in his car to rejoin the preparations for Celtic’s Europa League tie.
It’s not the sort of preparation that you would read about in a coaching manual but football management takes all types with Brendan Rodgers delighted to claim all three points from the Norwegians.
“He seems to have this in-built brain to deal with all this stuff,” the Celtic boss told The Sun.
“Probably a lot of players, what happens in their world can be a real distraction. Leigh learns to deal with it.
“He’s a great boy, we all love him and I know I can rely on him, when I put him on the pitch, that he always has the possibility to score.
“It was a great night for him and the team.”
Griffiths will now look to start Sunday’s match at Kilmarnock which promises to be a big test of Celtic’s credentials.
With just five goals from five SPFL matches the problems for Celtic are clearly in front of goal with the Scotland striker keen to remind everyone that he is the best goal-getter in the land.
