Allan McGregor will discover in the next 48 hours whether he is to escape for kicking out on Kris Ajer.

The incident happened late in the first half of Sevco’s 1-0 defeat from Celtic and was viewed by thousands of fans as the ball moved out of the Sevco penalty box.

Assistant referee Frank Connor, who was on duty on the North Stand side when Josh Meekings punched away a Leigh Griffiths header during the 2015 Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and Inverness Caley Thistle, missed the incident but it was highlighted by television cameras.

Steven Gerrard admitted that he will have to speak to McGregor about lashing out but yesterday came and went without any word from the SFA Compliance Officer.

According to The Sun:

Meanwhile, Rangers keeper Allan McGregor faces a sweat over a possible notice of complaint from new SFA compliance officer Clare Whyte.

SunSport understands Whyte is looking at footage of McGregor’s kick at Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer and will make a decision on any action tomorrow.

The previous week no action was taken for McGregor’s attack on Motherwell’s Peter Hartley.

The Sevco keeper is currently with the Scotland international squad, the cynical may suggest that it is unlikely that the SFA will decide to charge one of their own in the build up to an international double header.

Yesterday Steven Naismith, who escaped punishment for twice kicking out at grounded Jonny Hayes, was called into the Scotland squad to face Belgium and Albania.
