Fresh from his confessional with Si Ferry, Paddy McCourt got back to doing what he does best at the weekend- tormenting defenders and putting the ball in the back of the net.

The former Celtic favourite was in action for Finn Harps, scoring their second goal in a 7-1 win over Cabinteely that secures their place in the play-off’s for a return to the top flight.

With a new post to take up within the Derry City Academy this season will be McCourt’s final one as a player but on Saturday’s evidence there is still plenty of magic in his boots.

The Cabinteely defenders would have been well aware of the threat posed by the 34-year-old but that doesn’t really make it any easier to deal with a genius like McCourt.

Coming in off the left flank he mesmerised defenders with his close control until he got within sight of goal then casually tucked the ball out of reach of the Cabinteely goalkeeper.

Celtic and Derry fans have seen that type of goal dozens of times but no supporter will ever grow tired watching the magic of McCourt.
