The I newspaper has been forced to issue an apology after using a derogatory term about Catholics in their preview of Sevco’s match against Dundee on Sunday.

Newspapers are desperate to become more interactive with ‘fan engagement’ essential in the digital era.

Unfortunately with hatred of Catholics and Ireland an everyday topic of conversation among Ibrox fans it is almost impossible to engage with supporters without having to heavily edit their comments.

Tomorrow night in Villarreal Sevco supporters will be under the spotlight as their song book returns to the European stage.

In 2006 UEFA banned The Billy Boys after the Anti-Catholic song was heard throughout a Champions League match between Villarreal and the original Rangers club.

That song is heard regularly at most fixtures involving Sevco with no comment coming from the club or request for supporters to stop singing about their hatred of Catholics.
