Ally McCoist has admitted that he has walked away from management for good.

The fun loving media favourite managed Rangers (IL) and Sevco over three and a half disastrous years before resigning after being drawn against Celtic in the semi final of the 2014/15 League Cup Final.

During that time he managed to lose cup ties to Forfar, Falkirk, Queen of the South and Alloa as well as Malmo and Maribor.

Getting knocked out of the Champions League and Europa League before the end of August 2011 killed off the hopes of the Craig Whyte regime with administration following six months later.

With his £800,000 a year contract TUPE’d over to the tribute act McCoist gave his full backing to Charles Green and a variety of chief executives before taking up gardening leave in December 2014 and picking up 12 months salary while licking his wounds.

McCoist has relaunched his career as a cheeky chappie pundit and has finally admitted that he won’t be returning to the dug out.

Explaining the process he told The Sun: “I remember my missus saying to me ‘Come here you, have a look at yourself in that mirror’.

Normally I’m quite good at doing that and she’ll tell me I’ve been standing there for half an hour but in all seriousness, I looked at myself and thought, ‘Jesus, that’s not right’. That’s what happens in the management game.

That must have happened just before I left Rangers and I thought ‘That’s not right?.?.?.’

It was definitely taking its toll on me. I wasn’t feeling great, I wasn’t sleeping at all but that goes with the territory of being a football manager these days — particularly at the Old Firm. Listen, at that time at Rangers there was a combination of things.

I was unlucky with the timing of the management job at the club.”

McCoist was given 10,000 shares in Sevco for a penny each in August 2012, a few months later he urged supporters to buy into the share issue at 70p per share.

Kenny McDowall managed Sevco to a face saving 2-0 defeat in the semi-final of the League Cup in January 2015.
