Celtic fans are expected to get a Betfred Cup Final ticket boost with the hoops getting more than a 50% share of Hampden seats.

Much of the build up to the semi-finals revolved around ticket allocations with Aberdeen bringing just over 10,000 supporters to Hampden to enjoy their 1-0 win over Sevco.

Double that number can be expected for a final against Celtic but with the match being played at the start of December involving a 300 mile round trip it’s unlikely that the Dons could sell much more than 20-22,000 tickets.

According to the Daily Record talks between the two clubs and the SPFL took place yesterday:

And, although no agreement was reached, it’s believed Pittodrie chiefs have softened on their original stance for the last four clash with Rangers – when they demanded the national stadium be split down the middle only to sell less than 10,000 seats.

A Hampden source said: “The talks took place today but there is no agreement yet in place. It is likely that it might take a couple of days until there is a resolution but, with Aberdeen adopting a more reasonable stance after the semi final, it hopefully shouldn’t take too long to reach a position which satisfies all parties.”

Aberdeen failed to sell their 50% share of tickets for the 2016 Betfred Cup Final against Celtic at Hampden with less expectations on Derek McInnes’ side this time around.

Beating Sevco in Glasgow is the equivalent of a trophy win for many Aberdeen fans who have only had the 2014 League Cup success over Inverness Caley Thistle to enjoy over the last 20 years.
