Celtic have finally lost patience with the SPFL over the Betfred Cup semi-final fiasco.

According to a report in The Sun if one semi-final is to be moved to Murrayfield Celtic are insisting that it is decided by the drawing lots.

Celtic came out second best when the matches were originally scheduled with Brendan Rodgers’ side forced to play on a pitch used a few hours earlier and long distance fans highly inconvenienced by a Sunday 7.45pm kick off.

Yesterday the SPFL decided to tinker from their ‘contractual obligations’ by switching the Celtic v Hearts match to Murrayfield- the home ground of the Edinburgh side for part of last season.

The Sun reports:

Now Murrayfield will be targeted – with Celtic’s showdown with capital Hearts pencilled in for there.

The Hoops board, however, don’t see why that should automatically be the case and the champions are sent to the East.

And SunSport Online can reveal they’ve contacted the SPFL to consider the venues are pulled out of a hat like a traditional cup draw.

That suggestion was leaked to almost every media source in the country with Celtic fans reacting angrily to the suggestion.

Although no one will suggest it the big fear is sending 30,000 plus Sevco fans through to Edinburgh with the coin throwing incident at Livingston the latest in a roll of shame this season from followers of the tribute act.

Drawing lots would open up the possibility of that happening which could rule it out as a potential solution.

With Celtic scheduled to play Hearts in the Premiership on Saturday November 3 switching that match to Hampden seems sensible with Celtic’s home match with Motherwell scheduled for October 28 getting an early kick off to accommodate the Sevco v Aberdeen match later that day at Hampden.

After all we now know that nothing Neil Doncaster says is contractually obliged.
